Joining Is Easy!

Here are answers to the questions most frequently asked by those considering a membership in Dallas Social Toastmasters.

  1. How do I join?

Joining is really easy! Simply pick up a membership form at any meeting from our Membership Officer, or download a membership form from either the Members Section of this site or the Toastmasters International site. Search for "membership application" from the Toastmasters International home page, and select the form entitled "Membership Application - Districted".

Just submit your completed form with your check for dues and any fees to our Membership Officer. That's it!

  2. What are the advantages of being a member of Dallas Social Toastmasters?

Wow, there are so many! The three that really stand out are our high energy level and enthusiasm (we are "The Loud and the Proud!"), our commitment to provide frequent and quality social events, and our access to Ozona Grill and Bar's (map) private room with a raised stage. We are also a very friendly club, and provide a supportive and safe environment where making mistakes is just part of the process of learning.

  3. What is the cost to become a member?

Our membership dues are $105 per 6 month period. That's only $4 per meeting! There is also a one-time new member fee of $20 for those new to Toastmasters, which enrolls you with Toastmasters International and provides you access to the Toastmasters resources for all programs. (The new member fee does not apply to returning or reinstated members.)

Many employers recognize the professional benefits of the training provided by Toastmasters clubs to our members, and your employer may reimburse you either the full cost or a portion of your membership dues. Self-employed members may deduct the cost of Toastmasters memberships as training or continued education.

  4. I'm already in (or was in) another Toastmasters club. When happens then?

    Three situations are possible:

    • Current member in good standing in another club?
You can transfer your membership to Dallas Social Toastmasters.
    • Member of a Toastmasters club in the past, but not any more?
      Your membership can be reinstated.
    • Want to retain membership in your current club and join our club as well?
Your membership can be a "dual" membership, in which you continue to be a member of multiple clubs.

In each of the cases above, you will not have to pay the one-time new member fee again. You are only responsible for the cost of monthly dues.

  5. What do I get as a member?

As a member of Dallas Social Toastmasters, you will receive:

    • Competent Communication Manual - the basic training manual
    • Subscription to Toastmasters International Magazine (monthly)
    • Access to members message board
    • Information on all club social events
    • Help and coaching from a personal mentor

  6. How can I find out more?

You can find out more by attending a meeting and talking with our Membership Officer, or by contacting us via our Contact Page.
